June Case of the Month PDF Print E-mail

"Bliss" a 3 year old, female spayed, Black Laborador, presented to us on 6/10/10 for ingestion of a towel.

We proceeded with abdominal radiographs, which gave us suspicion of a foregin body in "Bliss's" stomach.

We then proceeded with an exploratory surgery, in which we found pieces of towel in "Bliss's" stomach and intestinal tract.

"Bliss" recovered uneventfully, and went home the next day.

"Bliss" ate this towel because she has a condition called separation anxiety.

Separation anxiety is common in many of pets and presents in itself in destruction of objects, inapporpiate urination or defication, etc.

We can help with separation anxiety with behavior modification, with or without medications.

We currently have "Bliss" on behavior medication and the owners are doing behavior modifications at home.
